This "small hero" touched many hearts when the word spread about him traveling on the start of the year with a but from the village Kozuar to Belgrade on chemo therapy
Nemanja Leontijevic, fourteen year old boy, who's life story made many citizens in Serbia sad, managed to beat carcinoma and return to the school desks.
Boy (5) ate an egg imported from THIS COUNTRY, and then he DIED
This "small hero" touched many hearts when the word spread about him traveling on the start of the year with a but from the village Kozuar to Belgrade on chemotherapy. Difficult disease, bone tumor, was diagnosed with the boy almost two years ago, and after the received therapies, Nemanja returned to school and he is again playing with his peers.
- The worst is over. I was afraid of the needle and therapy, and i was thinking every time weather will i come home again. I met a lot of friends in the hospital and we still keep in touch. Now that all is over i am really happy. Everybody was happy for my recovery, especially friends from school in Tulari, who helped me a lot while i was away. I managed to stay strait A's student - said for Telegraf this boy, who radiates with great modesty, even thought he showed he is a true fighter and he succeeded to beat the disease.
Even though the boy was only 12 years old when the disease was discovered, and he spent two years in hospital, this boy radiates with kindness, generosity and enormous life energy. When asked whether he has any wishes, what is that he misses and he would like to have, he modestly answered: "A ball".
- I wish i had a ball, to play with my brother, sister and friends, although i must not tire myself to much - said this fourteen year old boy.
When we asked him if his life would be easier if he had a computer, he shyly answered yes, while he doesn't need mobile phone, he had one with broken screen, he said he doesn't need better and that one is good enough.
- He is so modest and good. He got the phone from a boy and he accidentally dropped it in the hospital and the glass broke. He never complains, he is happy with what he has. He is helpful around the house, around every work. He also helps his father with the cattle.
Nemanja has younger brother and sister next to his parents, and they all live in 30 square meters of decaying house with his grandpa.
Nemanja shares his room with three years younger sister, while parents with the youngest son, sleep in the kitchen, which is also the living room, dinning room and the kitchen.
- Until recently we didn't even have bathroom. That was a real struggle. One very good woman called and thanks to her we now have bathroom. It would mean a lot if we could expand the house, at least for one room, so Nemanja could have room for himself, and not share it with his sister. I have worked for 20 years in the company and it closed, since them i am unemployed. It would mean a lot if i could work because, like this, we can barely make ends meet with agriculture. I talked to the officials for short term help, and they refused me, and since then i asked for nothing, and no one visited us this year - said Nemanja's father Dusan.
Modest Leontijevic family say that the most important thing for them is that Nemanja has his health, after the Golgotha he has endured, and they believe the time will come when they will afford the home for their children.
- This is who we are, we ask for nothing. We struggle how we can, the best way we can. We are not hungry, that is the most important. All of our attention is focused on Nemanja. We go to Belgrade every two months on controls. I have an old "one", i somehow manage to get to Belgrade with it and take Nemanja to the doctors. The most important thing is that the child is healthy, everything else will come on its own - said Dusan.
