EXPLOSION ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE: Detonation resounded at the new police station in Tovarnik

The cause of the explosion could be some old explosive device from the war times

When working on the construction of the new building of the police station in Tovarnik at the eastern Vukovar-Srem County, there was an explosion whose cause is still unknown, and no one was injured, reported on Tuesday the Vukovar-Srem police.

The explosion occurred during the demolition of old buildings of Tovanik police station, at the time when earth excavation was performed, according to the spokesman of the Police Administration of Vukovar-Srem Domagoj Dzigumovic.

- The investigation is in progress and all circumstances of this event will be made clear - said Dzigumovic, confirming there were no injuries.

He reminds that Tovarnik was occupied during the Patriotic war, and Srem front was going through it during the WWII, so it is assumed that the cause of explosion could be detonation from one of the old devices from that time span.
