Is the Ivana Spanovic jump of a lifetime greatest success of Serbian olympism? (PHOTO)
The queen of Serbian queen of sports officially became immortal last night
The goal is fulfilled. The Olympic medal is won, but the jump of a lifetime did not bring gold, the medal that Ivana Spanovic prepared so much for.
Thank you, Davor! Stefanek proudly sings the national anthem "Boze pravde" in Rio! (VIDEO)
7.08 meter long flight of the best Serbian athlete was the 8th successive medal that the Novi Sad Vojvodina member has won on great competitions since 2013.
3 years without absence from the stand ?!
What is shamefully mentioned in the comments is that Ivana's medal, brought to the Serbian athletics after 60 years, is the most important medal of Serbian olympism since we started performing as an independent state.
So, from 2008 we won 10 medals (including these three):
2008 BEIJING
Milorad Cavic SILVER swiming
Novak Djokovic BRONZE tennis
Water polo national team BRONZE
2012. LONDON
Milica Mandoc GOLD taekwondo
Ivana Maksinovic SILVER archery
Andrija Zlatic BRONZE archery
Water polo national team BRONZE
2016 RIO* (for now)
Davor Stefanek GOLD wrestling
Tijana Bogdanovic SILVER taekwondo
Ivana Spanovic BRONZE long jump
IVANA OFFICIALLY IMMORTAL
If we take in consideration that we waited for six decades for a medal in athletics in the greatest gathering of sports, if we consider that every Olympic cycle seems harder to win any medal with the super powerful Americans, and if we sat that the athletics is the queen of sports, practically of the Olympics, then there should be no doubts.
Football is not the subject of interest on the Olympic games, tennis as well, even though they are among the most popular sports. The most expensive tickets are the finals of the athletics and swimming competitions. Because, those two sports on the Olympic games and its contestants reach their peak, get to unimaginable heights, break down records everybody are talking about.
On that 17th August, Ivana Spanovic brought the most important medal for Serbia since we started competing as a individual country on the Olympic games.
