As a reward for everything he has done and only 19 years old, Nikola Tepic, graduate of the Belgrade Gymnasium received the St Sava award from the state.

Humble young man said that he was often at the verge of his strength and ready to give up everything, but he derived strength from his family. His parents and his brother are the greatest support.

He admits he did not expect the St Sava award, and that only encouraged him to rush further, reports Vecernje Novosti.

- I really did not expect it because there are so many successful young mathematicians, physicists - said the humble Nikola. - When the homeroom teacher Jelena Kricicanic, who was the one to "blame" for everything, called me, i couldn't believe it. It is truly a great honor. I think i am not fully aware of it just yet - if i was in the government, in the center of National theater, the crowd would applaud me - said Nikola.

He was interested in ecology since he was eight grade, and then he became a member of Regional center for talents. Since he lives in Kaludjerica, his first project was "The impact of unplanned construction on the environment" .

- I am working on improving growth and development of plants, by reducing the irrigation and fertilizing the soil - explains Nikola. - Regular fertilizer decomposes in water for around 20 seconds, and the plant only uses small part of that, while the rest is carried away by underground waters, which leads to pollution. My invention "Encapsulation of urea - forming of slow releasing fertilizer" enables the decomposition of capsule in the 120 hours time. I worked on the project and the invention for 9 months with the mentor prof. Borivoje Adnadjevic from the college of physical chemistry.

NIKOLA CAN MANAGE EVERYTHING

While he was working on the project which was awarded in Turkey, based on what the invention was made, Nikola worked 17 hours a day. He said that the only important thing is to love what you work.

Nikola is still not sure what college he will go to. One thing is certain - it will be technical science. He added that there are no one that did not recognize his work in Serbia, but there are also interested for him in Netherlands.

- The possibility of good employment and wage is what determines someones future college, and not the love towards anything - Nikola points out. - Unfortunately, true values system is extinct here, and some miserable things are glorified. We became a society without a critical opinion and i fight against that with all my passion - concluded Nikola.
