Granddaughter of Jezdimir Lovic, war hero who died in World War II, Jelena Lovic, converted from Orthodox Christianity to Islam a couple of years ago.

This girl, born and raised in the town of Sjenica, where the local grammar-school bears the name of her grandfather, confessed why she decided to change her faith, take hijab, and move to Jordan.
- My name Is Jelena Lovic, I am from Serbia, a part of former Yugoslavia, and the town I am from, Sjenica, is 80% Muslim populated - she said and added:
- I lived in a normal Christian family, like other girls in my time. My family is well-known and respected in Serbia, this is why other people respected us.
As she added on, while she was growing up, she had many friends who were Muslims and she went with them to the elementary and then high-school.
One day she was discussing with one of her friends talked about what makes her happy.
Her friend asked her in one moment: "Do you want to be like us?", and Jelena replied: "Yes!"
- The reason why I accepted Islam was this happiness. In time, things became different, my parents found out that I had converted to Islam and started protesting. The only support was my brother. I had to abandon them and hat was the most difficult decision I have ever made - said Jelena, and she continued:
- I wrote a message to my parents, and left. My best friend was married to a man from Jordan. She invited me to come join them, and even though I began crying when I entered the plane because I realized that I had left everything behind, I was happy because Allah was with me!
Jelena's grandfather, Jezdimir Lovic had his roots in a poor agricultural family and in 1940 he was part of many protests and strikes.
When he came back to his home town, in 1941, he became the assistant of the political commissioner of the local Partisan squad, and then later on he was chosen to be the representative of the brigade.
Chetniks killed him in 1943 in the village Krupice fro an ambush, and he was deemed a war hero on December 14, 1949.
