Prince will thus begin his two-day-visit to Serbia.
Telegraf internet portal brings you the news about the previous meeting of Prince Charles and the former president of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito.
This visit of the prince will be his 8th visit to the Balkans and the first visit of his spouse Camilla, duchess of Cornwall.
Prince of Wales, aged 29, visited Yugoslavia in 1978 when he stayed in Belgrade, cities of Split, and Dubrovnik.
Josib Broz Tito wanted this visit and he welcomed him at his mansion in Igalo, Montenegro.
According to Reuters, Tito was so impressed with the prince that he wrote him a letter the day after in which he wrote how much he had enjoyed the visit.
Prince Charles was sent to Yugoslavia by his mother, the Queen, who marveled Tito.
Apart from that, Tito gave his opinion about the world situation and his plans about cooperation with Great Britain.
Since 1993, Charles has visited Bosnia and Herzegovina 4 times, Croatia 3 times, Macedonia once, and he visited Kosovo in 1999.
His father, Prince Philip, duke of Edinburgh, was born in Greece, but he left the country while still very young.
Despite that, both Philip and Charles are the members of the Friends of the Athos in Great Britain.
