BIG COFFEE SCAM IN SERBIA: In it they put barley, peas, and soy!

The latest research of the Customer Center of Serbia showed that real coffee is in every fourth package, and that in others we get corn, acorn, peas, soy, and barley - reports Informer news agency.

- On the package coffee is represented as clean, without added material, and after the research we determined that it was not true. In fact, they added soy, barley, corn, or industrial peas - it was stated in the Customer Center of Serbia.

The problem is that the manufacturers do not state on the package whether there are surrogates and in what percentage.

- There are more than 200 coffee brands in Serbia, and 90% of them do not have regular declaration. This means there is no list of ingredients, the matter, storage condition, product series, possible allergies or other things - says Ružica Madžarević from the Customer Center of Serbia.

Experts believe that smaller coffee brands do this more often because it is easier for them to make large quantities of this product and sell it.

President of the National organization of customers in Serbia Goran Papović says that this is the way to trick the customers.

- We think we are buying coffee but in fact we buy barley or peas! If there are surrogates in the coffee, this has to be clearly visible. Penalties due to customer deceit go from 3000 up to 18000 Euro - says Papović.
