Comtrade became a partner of the European Center for Nuclear Research CERN!

- Being a part of the historic team that is looking for the "God particle" is the biggest success of Comtrade so far! We are chosen to be one of only ten IT companies in the world with which the European Center for Nuclear Research CERN cooperates - said Veselin Jevrosimović, President of Comtrade Group

Comtrade will address the issues of easier access, more efficient management and scalability of EOS, system for storage used in CERN. By improving the operability, functionality and overall management of the information system, Comtrade will significantly improve cooperation between the growing number of scientific and research organizations involved in the experiments taking place in the world's most powerful particle accelerator - the Large Hadron Collider of particles (LHC).

In line with its mission to study the essential parts of matter, CERN collects and shares information with partner scientific institutions around the world. From experiments on the LHC, CERN's data center collects more than 30 petabytes of data per year, and it is the EOS Large Scale Storage System that is the basis for their further processing, with installations that support as many as 140 petabytes of storage.

The amount of information that experiments bring on the accelerator dramatically increases as the number of scientific organizations participating in this research. Consequently, CERN plans to enable open access to the EOS system, in order to facilitate access and use of information to external associates. Thanks to its expertise in the areas of data storage, management system and network management, the company Comtrade was chosen to expand the capabilities of EOS.

- We have a tremendous amount of data that is rapidly growing and which is necessary to be effectively managed - said Alberto Di Meglio, the Manager of CERN openlab and added:

- We provide reliable access and support for researchers participating in the experiments. Comtrade expertise will be of great help in further support to the scientific community, especially at a time when the number of involved in the experiments increases as the amount of data.

To ensure that the data from the LHC are available to researchers worldwide, the EOS system will have to be easy to activate and control, regardless of the amount of information and complexity of the IT environment. The aim is to provide reliable and fast data flow, in order to meet so far unprecedented requirements in terms of quality of processing, distribution and analysis.
