EC gives positive verdict on Action Plan for Chapter 24

The European Commission (EC) has judged Serbia's Action Plan for Chapter 24 (Justice, Freedom and Security) positively, and the negotiating team in charge of the chapter, which is under the Ministry of Interior, will take all the necessary steps to open it as soon as possible, the ministry has said in a release

The EC gave its final, positive opinion stressing that the Action Plan had been drawn up in accordance with the requirements and standards of the European Union, the release said.

Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic expressed his satisfaction about EC's opinion, stressing that it was a major step towards Serbia's full membership of the EU.

"Serbia's European path was promoted by this positive verdict on Chapter 24. Serbia's goal is to harmonize with the EU standards and implement them successfully, and all that for the sake of better life and security of our citizens," said Stefanovic.
