The Government of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska have decided that August 5th will be the day of remembrance to all displaced and killed Serbs, and will be termed a day of mourning

Remembrance Day for the suffering and persecution of Serbs will be marked on August 4th with a large gathering in front of Sremska Raca and a series of commemorative events. The day after, August 5, will be declared a day of mourning in the territories of Serbia and Republic of Srpska, announced today by the Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Issues, Aleksandar Vulin.

- In a joint initiative of the Government of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, we decided that August 5th will be a day of remembrance to all displaced and killed Serbs, and at today's meeting of the Organizing Committee, we agreed on how we would mark this day - said Vulin after giving away scholarships to talented students and students who are placed in foster families.

According to him, it was agreed that this day will be marked by a big rally on August 4th in Sremska Raca in the municipality of Sremska Mitrovica. On August 5th, a series of appropriate events of which will, among other things, be a moment of silence for all the victims.

- Joint forces from both Governments, the Serbian Orthodox Church and all institutions of our country have taken part in the organization of this symbolic memorial day - said Vulin.
