Dacic: EU membership key strategic orientation

EU membership is a key strategic orientation for Serbia and the government is fully committed to it, but Serbia is also ready to continue economic reforms, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Monday

Opening the negotiations with the EU is a historic opportunity and it is our key strategic orientation. The government's goal is to finish everything in this regard by 2018 so that Serbia can be an EU member from 2020, Dacic told the participants of the Economic Forum in Belgrade.

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM: The most powerful people in the world gathered in Jordan!

Serbia is ready to continue the reforms. Our top priority is building a rule-of-law state as the basic prerequisite for attracting investments, as well as developing small and medium-sized entrepreneurship, he noted.

Entrepreneurs cooperate regardless of political dialogue

Over the past year,  600 million euros has been invested in Serbia, which secured 7,500 new jobs, while 62 projects that, if implemented, could make the investments almost 1 billion, are under preparation, Dacic said, adding that the goal is to ensure the prerequisites for the maximum economic growth possible, employment for young people, fiscal consolidation and a restructuring of the economy.
