Govt will review changes to privatisation law this week

The Serbian government will adopt changes to the privatisation law this week, which were proposed by the Ministry of Economy, and they will be sent to the parliament next week, Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic said on Wednesday, adding that the changes would facilitate the transformation of ownership

The amendments will make it possible to delay bankruptcy and enforced collection in 17 companies undergoing restructuring by a year at the most, so they could be sold, followed by a property valuation 30 days after the bids to purchase the company are invited, he told reporters.

A total of 526 companies with 92,000 employees have yet to be sold, he explained.

Which company is going to manage Zelezara?

Of that number, 17 will be sold under special conditions, with a maximum of a year of protection from enforced collection from the moment the amendments to the privatization law are adopted, he stated.

Attempt at privatizing 28 enterprises in restructuring

Head of the Privatization Agency Ljubomir Subara said the difficulties in privatization had come from the valuation of capital done on December 31, 2013, explaining that the figures were unreal and required new appraisal.
