Nikolic: We will march across Red Square as victors
The Day of the Serbian Army Guard and 185th anniversary of its existence was marked in the Dedinje barracks in Belgrade on Wednesday, and Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic presented the elite unit with the Order of the White Eagle
Addressing the participants of the ceremony to mark the Serbian Army Guard Day, Nikolic said that at a time when the world is celebrating 70th anniversary of the victory against evil, it is the right and obligation of the Serbian Army to assume its honourable and well-deserved place among the victors in World War II.
On May 9, the Guard of the Serbian Army will take part in the march of the victors at the Red Square in Moscow as representatives of the Serbian troops from World War II. They will be marching on behalf of Serbia, a country that fought only defensive wars and was always on the side of justice and freedom, the president said.
The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Chief of the General Staff of Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic.
