WILD WILD WEST: You will be shocked by the number of pistols and revolvers that Serbs possess!
- There is a tradition and a love of weapons in our nation, which is transmitted from generation to generation. Weapons are relatively easy to obtain and at quite low prices - said Zoran Dragisic, professor of the Faculty of Security
The campaign for the legalization of weapons in Serbia is in the midst, and so far has yielded very poor results. Although over 480 weapons, 40,000 rounds of ammunition and 264 grenades have been handed over, it has very little given the amount of weapons that there are in Serbia.
According to estimates by professional organizations and MUP Serbia, in the possession of Serbian citizens there is between one million and, according to some estimates, two million weapons. Modest police estimates say that Serbs have half a million guns and revolvers in their possession.
About 15 percent of Serbian citizens have a license to possess weapons, while less than 2,000 has a license to carry.
SERBS ARE ARMING AMERICA AND EUROPE: NATO members have gone crazy over Serbian FIGHTING MACHINES!
- There is a tradition and a love of weapons in our nation, which is transmitted from generation to generation. Weapons are relatively easy to obtain and at quite low prices. In order to solve the problem, there are two ways. Either allow free possession of weapons, much like in some American states or completely ban guns, except for police and security agencies. That would, however, mean that we should arrest half of Serbia, which is impossible - says Zoran Dragisic, professor of the Faculty of Security.
The number of registered weapons to citizens of Serbia is above the European average. In Serbia, roughly 14.7 pieces per 100 inhabitants, in Montenegro 13.2 pieces, in BiH 9.3 firearms, while in Croatia, 8.4 pieces per 100 inhabitants.
