Serbia is expected to introduce life sentences in September for cases of aggravated murder, informs the "Informer". The drafted Criminal Code will repeal the existing sentence of 40 years in prison, and introduce life sentences to those found guilty of the most heinous crimes.

"Imprisonment of 30 to 40 years will be replaced with a life sentence. Those sentenced to life in prison may receive a conditional sentence if they have served 25 years of their sentence. This penalty cannot be imposed on a person who, at the time of committing the offense, was under the age of 21, or in cases of exceeding necessary force in self-defense or with diminished capacity, " according to the draft of the Criminal Code.
