In the Belgrade suburb of Banjica, namely around the turntable of the trolley buses 40 and 41, in a clean-up action, an avid recognizable participant was the US Ambassador to Serbia, Michael Kirby.

- We managed to bring together different people in this action and this is of utmost importance. People from the US Embassy, ​​a group of children who participated in the exchange program of two countries and an organization of retired folk from "Third Age" helped in collecting waste in this part of the city - said Kirby.

The American ambassador, who did not hesitate for an instance, gladly put on a glove  and picked up garbage, calling on all citizens of Serbia today, and in the days to come to show their solidarity and help protect the planet.

- The citizens of Serbia do not hesitate to volunteer and they've demonstrated this best during their rescue operations in Obrenovac during last year's floodsIt would be good that in the future citizens come together to solve problems.

The action was organized by the Banjica members of the Think Big Team, which brings together former participants of high school exchange programs and A-SMYLE funded by the US State Department. Retirees from the "Third Age" also joined the other participants.

April 22th marks National Earth Day which is celebrated around the world with a variety of programs and actions.
