TANNING BEDS TO BE BANNED IN SERBIA: Minors won't be able to get their tans in salons until they're 18!
Serbia could soon ban the use of tanning beds for minors
As part of "Evromelanom" campaign a group of dermatologists will on 11 May present the Serbian Parliament with the proposal of banning tanning beds.
If approved, the proposal will execute a ban on minors, that is citizens under 18 years old, prohibiting them to tan-bed, while older than 18 will tan-bed on their personal responsibility, previously acquainted with all the risks of sunbed use.

Serbian experts have decided to start this initiative because tanning beds emit large amounts of UVA radiation, which significantly increases the risk of contracting melanoma – the deadliest form of skin cancer.
Politicians stand united when it comes to this proposal. Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said she supports a ban on the use of tanning minors, as she believes it to be damaging and dangerous for the skin. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, as well as Borislav Stefanovic and Zoran Babic share her opinion.
Statistical data show really worrying figures. Namely, in Serbia one person dies of melanoma each day. This is, by the way, one of the most aggressive tumors because it metastasizes spreading on other organs.
