SEE YOU IN BELGRADE IN 2017: Golden Ivana and Silver Asmir return to Serbia!

Serbia won two medals at just finished Indoor European Championship. The next one is expecting us in just two years in Belgrade Arena where we expect several more of our athletes to join Spanovic and Kolasinac as medalists

The curtain is down at the 33rd consecutive indoor track and field championship in Prague and Serbian team is back with two medals.

The next championship of the 'old continent' is going to take place in Serbia in 2017.

For the last few days we had the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic results, skills and true accomplishments of the competitors, which reminded us of athletics' glory days.

We especially remembered Serbian ambassadors who represented our country in the best possible way.

Asmir was the first one to make us happy with his silver medal in the shot put. He added one more medal in the European Championships and, as he said himself, although  he could not defend the gold from two years ago, this silver has greater value than the medal from Helsinki 2013.

Ivana was the one who brought us to the point of ecstasy when she made everyone glued to the TV while the long jump finals were on. The hero of Serbian track and field jumped and landed the gold, the new national record plus the second result in the history of that competition.

Her jump to 6,98 meters and the new national indoor record after 50 years will be retold for a long time. Not only we will remember this medal as the first one in the individual competition in Serbian athletics, but also for Ivana's dominance over the rest of the competitors.

Ivana wept while she was listening to the national anthem of Serbia, and the whole country wept alongside her, but no time for rest for her or the rest of our athletes. Summer is just around the corner and in it Beijing World Championships where we have lots of reasons to expect new success from not only her, but also Kolasinac, Bekric, Jelaca, Terzic...

As far as indoor European Championships are concerned, Serbia has even greater task ahead because Belgrade hosts the 'old continent's' best athletes in the Arena. We just hope that  our athletes will be more successful than ever and that thedream of singing 'Boze pravde' in front of our fans will come true.

See you in the Arena in 2017!
