Two new conditions in just two days from Pristina for Community of Serb Municipalities: Dacic for a radical response
In the last two days, Pristina has set two new conditions before Belgrade for the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities. First, Blerim Shala, political advisor to the president of the provisional Kosovo institutions, Hasim Thaci, said that the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) would not be formed before the signing of a legally binding agreement between the two sides, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, said that "it should not be rushed until Kosovo gets a chair in the UN". In response to these statements, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic proposed a radical move.
- Only after Kosovo gets a legal status and full international recognition, then these negotiations should be finalized - Hoxhaj said.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that all statements that can be heard from representatives of provisional institutions in Kosovo and Metohija only confirm what he said - that Pristina does not intend to fulfill its obligations under the Brussels Agreement and they don't hide it and that they will say and lie about anything necessary to stop Serbs from forming CSM on April 2oth.
Due to the constant setting of new conditions by Pristina, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said the solution would be a radical decision, which is to withdraw signatures from the Brussels agreement and to return the Serbian institutions to Kosovo and Metohija.
- I put the signature as prime minister, I would also withdraw the signature. You don't want the Community of Serb municipalities - then we won't have everything else, we are returning to the previous state - Dacic.
Despite the failure to comply with the Brussels Agreement, the Pristina side considers that this issue will be concluded in a legally binding agreement.
- This can not be separated or treated as a separate topic, but it will be finished naturally, as one of the annexes to the binding agreement - explained Shalja.
In response to these statements, the president of the Assembly Committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, told Telegraf.rs that Pristina's intention to prevent the formation of the Community is fairly clear, while Brussels and Washington are silently endorsing such behavior.
- The only thing that remains is to wait until the deadline for the drafting of the statute has passed and then to decide what to do next. I think that there must be an option for Serbian representatives to form the CSM themselves in accordance with the Brussels agreement - he said.
According to the provisions of the Brussels Agreement, Pristina is obliged to establish the Community of Serb Municipalities, but they did not do so even five years after the agreement was signed. Representatives of Serbs from Kosovo originally announced that they would form the CSM themselves with the Serbian List unless Pristina does so within the next three months, the time remaining when the deadline should expire which was set by the European Union.
