Aleksa Konstantinov from Kikinda won first place in the international competition in Mathematics in Thailand!

Over 100 countries took part and participants from Serbia won four medals. Gold, silver and two bronze.

Aleksa is a student in the high mathematical grammar school in Belgrade, and his love of numbers and calculations come from his elementary school "Sveti Sava", which he attended in Kikinda.

HE SHOULD BE THE PRIDE OF ALL OF US, YET SERBIA KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT HIM: This is Pavle (18), visually impaired world champion in chess!

- My love for mathematics started in elementary school, and that love was developed by professor Desanka Cepelnik. She worked hard on my success, set a solid foundation of my knowledge and I am immensely grateful to her - said Aleksa.

Aleksa said that the preparations for the competition are constant, but that he does not see it as an obligation but a pleasure.

- For us, mathematics is not an obligation, but love and passion, the best pastime. You must really know the beauty of mathematics as a beautiful science. In this way, preparing for the competition os not difficult, we do it every day.

Aleksa will continue his education at the MIT University in Boston. He discussed this with his teacher Sonja Čukić who encouraged him that a gold medal facilitates admission. She believed in Aleksa, and Aleksa proved it in the best possible way.

- I was just waiting for the boundaries for the gold medal to be drawn, but once the results were officially announced, I was overjoyed. I think it's a great success for me - said Aleksa Konstantinov.
