Nuland: U.S. supports Serbia's EU path

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland met on Tuesday with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and said that the U.S. supports Serbia's EU path and intends to help the country ensure its energy security

The Serbian prime minister and the U.S. assistant secretary of state met for a working lunch to discuss the bilateral relations, Serbia's European integration, the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, and the situation in the region, particularly in BiH and Macedonia.

Vucic stressed that the priority of Serbia's foreign policy is EU membership, the Serbian government's media relations office said in a release.

The prime minister added that Belgrade intends to continue the dialogue with Pristina, so that the solutions that will contribute to the preservation of regional stability could be reached in the shortest possible time.

Vucic: Chapters will be opened before end of year

"Political and economic stability is key to the development of the region, and Serbia will not abandon the policy leading towards that goal," Vucic stressed.
