Asylum seekers from Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey and other vulnerable countries have flooded Belgrade. They have already been in the capital for months, and many have settled in the park by the bus station. They feed in bakeries, sleep in hostels and parks, and citizens have are already noticed them.

However, what is new is that many shops, bakeries and motels have printed their services, in addition to Serbian, in Arabic! This move

attracts "passers" and allows them to understand what they eat or where they can spend the night.

In the first place is by far Karađorđeva street, where almost every other retail store has plastered inscriptions in Arabic. Caterers say that in this way, they  simplify things for the asylum seekers, but also for themselves, allowing them to communicate easier:

- Everything is well written, they say what they want and we get it for them - says the owner of a bakery.

In another bakery "Bajic" we spoke with the pleasant owner Radmila Bajic, who told us that these people are very pleasant and friendly,

expressing wonder why there are so many misunderstandings and  such antagonism towards them:

- They are very cultured and friendly. It all started when a young man, who is a painter by profession and otherwise Orthodox, came into our bakery. He offered to  give us the names of dishes written in their language and we gladly accepted.

She adds that, both to her and all of us, it would mean a lot if we were welcomed like "at home" in a foreign country, and if we were to see various Serbian inscriptions for services.

She never had a single incident, on the contrary - these nice people often stop by and leave a token of their gratitude. Also, they offer to wash the dishes after themselves.

They enjoy cheese burek and like to drink black tea. They pay their bill regularly and according to sellers - they are never indebted.

In the same bakery they showed us the gifts they received - a beautiful love letter, a flower, a cross and their bills of their currency.

In the same street, a fast food chicken shop has opened because most of them enjoy only chicken meat.

Several motels have also written their offers in Arabic ...

If you walk down Karadjordjeva street, pay attention to the new inscriptions, but also the people. Do not be confused if you enter one of the stores, and someone speaks to you in Arabic and asks what you want ...
