Nearly 762,000 unemployed in Serbia

Comparing the unemployment rates by age groups, persons under 30 account for 25.8 percent of the jobless, 26.4 percent of the unemployed are older than 50, while 47.8 percent are aged between 30 and 49, the NZS said in a release.

Looking at the highest level of education attained, people with low or no qualifications make up for nearly one third (31.6 percent) of the unemployed on the NZS records, or a total of 240,904 people.

Persons with secondary school education account for 54.6 percent, and those with college and university education make up for 13.9 percent of Serbia's jobless.

A total of 508,670 people, or 66.8 percent, are long-term unemployed who have been looking for work for more than 12 months.

According to the NZS, the unemployment rate has dropped by 3.2 percent compared to April 2014.

The number of young people on the NZS records is down by 6.5 percent year-on-year and now totals 196,213.
