The Great Northern whale was seen at about 11 kilometers from the Croatian island of Dugi Otok in the direction of Italy, reports "Hrvatski radio." Given that is ten meters long, it is probably word of a cub.

An extremely endangered species after the blue whale is the largest animal on earth, it can grow up to twenty meters and weigh 70 tons.

The Great Northern Whale lives in all of the world's oceans but is most common in the waters of moderate temperature. Some populations live in the Mediterranean Sea. Its last sighting was in 2012 on the north side of the island of Vis.

The upper side of its body is gray-brown, and the underside -white. It has a slender body and swims very fast, faster than some slow ships.
