We were in a litter of asylum seekers in the center of Belgrade: Here's what we found there (PHOTO) (VIDEO)

Asylum seekers from Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey and other vulnerable countries have overfilled Belgrade.

Taxi drivers that taxi around the bus station say they've been there for six months, but since the weather is nice, and the hostels are full of them, many have settled in the park near the bus station.

Many Belgraders object to it, and surrounding them you can hear comments such as "oh man, look at them", " what are they doing here, they should leave.."

You can find them in the park on an incoming train platform or across the bus station, mostly in groups.

They spend their days waiting for a "tip" on the transport to a further destination, in search of a better life.

They sleep in hostels and parks, feed in bars, and fast food restaurants. Whatever works for that day.

Many have come to Serbia by changing different means of transport, and some have even walked. Travelling from one state to another, crossing thousands of miles, they have crossed nearly the whole world, in search of a better life.

Given the bad situation in their countries, they've come a long way and continue on. There are quite a lot of young people, that harbor the hope that somewhere out there, there is a better life waiting for them. Some have relatives in

Hungary, and hope to be able to start a normal life there.

Serbia is just a pit stop. Some have been here for a few days, and others stay in the capital for several months. All of them are waiting for transport to a further destination. They don't want to stay here. Serbia is not their main

destination.

We had a chat with some of them, who allowed us to tape them. Many, out of fear, did not want to stand in front of the camera.

Have a look at what they told us; why they are here, how they feed themselves, where they sleep, and where they will go...
