SECRET BLOODY DOG FIGHTS IN SERBIA: They torture and abuse animals all to earn big bucks!
Dog fighting in Serbia started in the nineties along with the economic crisis, as many sought this as a profitable means to earn money.
Serbia makes evident progress in improving Roma people's position, many changes still await
Since 2009, animal fights in Serbia are treated as a criminal offense, which carries a sentence of three months to three years in prison along with monetary fines. However, it is difficult to trace people who organize them.
Dog fights are illegally held in secrete circles, and the sums of money that are invested begin at a thousand dinars, to ups to tens of thousands of euros.
That these battles have become "a lucrative and serious business" is shown by the fact that more and more people are opting to exploit animals in order to make an earning.
Dog fights of pit bulls and other similar breeds are held mainly in villages, and particular attention is paid that this is all done confidentially. Dogs, mostly pit bull terriers are trained for fights
of the most brutal methods, so they are beaten and abused from birth, and "trained" to be even more fierce, and blood hungry, so it is not rare that they are given drugs and steroids in order to achieve better results.
Besides pit bulls, other dog breeds are also used to participate in these bloody dogfights.
They are mainly Caucasian shepherds, Staffords, Pit bull Terriers and Rottweilers, in addition to fights being held for sheepdogs; including Caucasian shepherds and Sheppard dogs, however this type of fight is less vindictive and called "the test of character". In this type of fight, dogs mostly compare forces in order to establish dominance, but it is not rare to have them fight to the death, claim those who are in the loop.
Ticket prices depend on the capabilities of the dogs and the nature of the fights. Premiums for betting are from a few hundred euros, but bets for the "top dogs" are organized, where bets go over € 100,000 per match. These are the so-called VIP fights, and only few can attend these matches.
In these brutal battles, participating dogs are of our people, and often cooperate with Poles and Russians.
Some owners put their pit bulls on strict diets, and feed them other living dogs from the street in order to make them better prepared for bloody fights.
Tortured animals are slaughtered to death for hours or beaten until incapacitated.
