"Fake" Serbian hitchhiker in Bubanj Potok tells a sad tale to get drivers to give him money!
By the pay toll, nearby Bubanj Potok, a 22 year old young man was hitchhiking and begging cars for a ride. But that's not where the story ends.
As soon as he gets into the car, he wastes no time, and tells drivers of the tortured life he left behind, leaving no one indifferent, and taking money from those who pity him.
In the same manner, he entered the vehicle of a man from Mladenovac, who, at first glance, seemed dazed and helpless, -states Nase novine.
- He seemed quite normal, well dressed and clean, and said he was on his way to Mladenovac. We began conversing, so I asked him where he was from, to which he responded calmly, and began telling me his story - he told the newspaper.
The young man told him he was originally from Kosovo, where his mother and father were killed, and that he had no family left. An orphan at three years of age, he was fortunate enough to falls to the hands of a priest, who took him in, raised and educated him. He lived with him up until ten days ago when he decided, that out of embarrassment, it was time to make it alone in the world, and decided to start working.
According to his story, he had left with enough money to buy a ticket for Belgrade, in order to find a job and lodging.
- He said he couldn't spend the money he had leftover for his return, so he slept in alleyways, on bus stops, and in sheds during the harsh winter cold. But when he told me that the only thing he ate today was an orange, my heart broke - he says, and continues.
- I was touched by his demeanor, he said he wasn't complaining, that it was no big deal, that he was used to worse and that he will continue to strive. I was fascinated by the degree of strength and perseverance in such a young man. He didn't ask for anything , but when we got to Mladenovac, I gave him a bit of cash and asked for his number so I could help him out again.
However, he just said thanks and exited the car, leaving a distraught man under the impression of their meeting. Unfortunately, he would learn soon enough that the young man with the tragic life story was nothing more than a fraud.
In fact, on that very same day, he told his sister what happened. She stopped him dead in his tracks, and told him that she and her husband had recently driven the same young man, with the exact same life story, and they too, had given him money.
As the story unfolds, they are not the only ones to have been fooled by the young man. A friend of theirs stated, that he too, had driven the same young man over a year ago, and heard the "only having eaten an orange for the whole day", which is why he gave him money to help him out in the first place.
