Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announces Serbia's on its way out of crisis
Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday that, for the first time, he can now say that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was wrong in its estimate of Serbia's economic growth rate for this year, and added that it will amount to over 0.5 percent to 1 percent, which means that the country is on its way out of crisis.
Vucic: Slovakia is Serbia's true friend
- For the first time, I can say today that I expect their (the IMF's) estimate to be inaccurate with regards to the growth rate for this year. They have predicted it to be between minus 0.5 percent and minus one percent, which was all right considering the fiscal consolidation measures.
I believe that this year, too, we will have positive growth in this regard and that we are heading towards plus 0.5-1 percent, which would open up the possibility of having growth of over three percent in 2016 and 2017, - Vucic said at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
In this way, Serbia has joined the ranks of European countries with the highest growth rates, he said.
The country's recovery and creating conditions for sustainable development is the government's plan for the coming period, he said.
- Hopefully, in six months we will be able to present to the IMF proposals that will make life slightly easier and better for our citizens, he concluded.
